The daughter of Francis and Mary Halkenhauser Joos, Maryann was raised in the parish of the Blessed Virgin Mary Help of Christians in Woodside, Queens. On September 7, 1947, she entered the Novitiate in Amityville and on August 4, 1948 she received the habit and her religious name, Sister Miriam Michael. She entered the Congregation from Holy Child Jesus parish, Queens. She was in the 66th year of her religious life.  Sister served as a principal at the following schools: St. Mary Assumption Elementary School in Upper Marlboro, MD, from 1966 to 1970; Our Lady of Mercy Elementary School in Forest Hills, NY, from 1970 to 1974; St. Mary’s Elementary School in Manhasset, NY, from 1974 to 1978; Sacred Heart Elementary School in Mt. Sister Eva subsequently ministered in Pastoral Services at Mercy Center, Patchogue, St. Mary’s Hospital, Brooklyn, and Siena Spirituality Center, Watermill.  Eva also donated her service to the Motherhouse as a receptionist for a year before returning to Pastoral service at St. Joseph parish, Garden City and St. Paul the Apostle parish, Brookville. On August 4, 1943 she received the habit and her name Sister Mary Francesca. Msgr. Sister M. Jeannine Parry, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died on Monday, May 23, 2016, at Our Lady of Peace Residence in Scranton. Linda Anderson, the daughter of Robert M. and Helen E. (Ryan) Anderson, was born May 15, 1949 at Jefferson, Iowa and departed this life following a lengthy illness on November 29, 2020 at the Brio of Johnston Senior Living & Care Center in Johnston, Iowa. Because of the number of Jewish students and neighbors, Sister also sat shiva with them when a relative died. Medical Mission Sister Catherine Ouellette, M.M.S., 83, died October 26, 2015, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  Her Funeral Mass was held at her Community’s North American Headquarters’ Chapel in Philadelphia on November 3. One year later, she came to the Motherhouse in Amityville, first living in Rosary Hall then, as her health deteriorated, to Carlin Hall. Lil loved to garden and enjoyed planting flowers in the yard around her home. She completed a study program at Central Islip Hospital on Long Island and began to minister at the Hospice in Good Samaritan Hospital in West Islip in 1994. She is preceded in death by three brothers, Jerome, Paul, and Gerard. While on the support staff at the Marian Convent in Scranton, she also taught at the GED program and a creative writing course at the Lackawanna County Prison in Scranton, PA, from 1983 to 1984. The daughter of James and Mary Murphy, both born in Ireland, Johanna Cecilia was born on January 24, 1930 in New York. The last two years of her life were spent in Maria Regina Residence.
