The Olympics are killing me. Don’t get me wrong, I love the Olympics. I love watching people compete at the highest level. I’m reminded of all of the time, energy, effort, sacrifice and years of training, resulting in minutes (or sometimes seconds) of competition, culminating in the joy of winning or the agony of defeat. That’s not what’s killing me.
What’s killing me is staying up until midnight every single night and the loss of sleep dragging into the morning. While it is a beautiful time for our family to be together watching the Olympics eating some form of sugar, I find we’ve become shorter with one another and we don’t quite have the patience we usually do. (well, maybe it’s just me:) The Olympics are tearing us apart! This is why I am so excited about our weekend series for the month of August. REFUEL. I love what Doug has taught us over the past couple of weeks – that refueling and connecting with God is not what we think AND is so much easier than we think!
I’m thrilled to be back with you this weekend for REFUEL as we talk about accessing and experiencing the love and power God intends for us. There are so many in this world who are desperate to overcome the sadness, confusion, sickness, and hopelessness of life. This weekend will be a beautiful time together as we remember the power of God is so much bigger than anything we will face in this world, and it’s available to every one of us. I know you won’t want to miss it! Also, our friend Tim Timmons will be here to lead us in worship, helping us remember and respond to who God is and all He is doing.
Be sure to invite people into this journey with you so we can refuel together. As you know, summer is a great time to connect with God and be in community. This Saturday night we’re having a zoo on our lawn after the service! Bring your family, friends and neighbors and enjoy some end-of-summer fun.
Peace…
Kyle
