This has been such a great season in our church as so many of you have jumped in to Celebrate Differently, buying presents, providing meals and giving to those in need. If you haven’t been able to participate yet, there’s still time! Read below for more opportunities as we continue to celebrate or visit our website here.

This weekend we will be looking forward to Thanksgiving and the Christmas season. Our world seems to rush ahead in this busy time of year and it is easy to lose our footing. We will be finishing up the Book of Nehemiah and our Favor With Kings series this weekend. Join us as we look at the secret to making it through this next season. Plus, Jeff and the team are making their way home from Israel and will be back with us as well!

See you Sunday!

What a great Sunday we had this past weekend as we launched this season of Celebrate Differently! This Christmas, as a church, we are committed to caring for people experiencing poverty or crisis by offering our time and our resources; by giving Christmas gifts to local families, providing food for those in need and by serving in our community.

THANK YOU to those of you that are already participating in Celebrate Differently! Hundreds of gift tags were taken off the Christmas trees on the patio (and we’ll have more this Sunday!). Many of you signed up to serve at various holiday opportunities. And this next Sunday we’re kicking off a food drive to stock the food pantry at Westmont Elementary that we’re helping launch! What an awesome time of year, when we get to put Jesus’ love on display in our community, by helping meet tangible needs and building relationships.

A few more exciting things…

We are thrilled to have a new global resident from Kenya with us! Her name is Qui, so make sure you introduce yourself to her on the patio this Sunday!

Speaking of global, we have another Mexico Faith Adventure coming up! Join us on Saturday, November 19, as we paint the El Niño Church and host a fun community BBQ. We’ll also end the day with a friendly game of baseball with the kids in the neighborhood. CLICK HERE to register.

It’s not too late to sign up to serve this holiday season… Don’t miss out on these opportunities to celebrate and build relationships in our community! CLICK HERE for all the details.

I am so grateful for this community. May we experience God’s joy as we celebrate differently and love those around us this holiday season!

This past weekend the call went out to “Celebrate Differently” in order to stand in the gap for the poor, the marginalized and those that have no advocates in our community. It was beautiful to see our church respond with such excitement and fervor. The patio was full of families gathered around Christmas trees (yes, in the first week of November) choosing how to serve our community.

The response on last Sunday’s launch weekend was larger than all six weeks of the campaign in previous years. We had more people than ever choose to serve – a 40% increase – by picking serve opportunities through our “Serve Tree.” Your financial generosity and commitment to our outreach efforts has also been amazing, and I’m quickly beginning to understand that in order to build a great church, we must have the foresight to help build a great city. This six week “Celebrate Differently” Outreach campaign has come at an interesting time in our country. At a time when our nation is divided down the middle, how are we to respond as the church? It is easy to get caught up in the emotions of either side, but I’m reminded of the Sunday message from a couple of weeks ago where Nehemiah tells the Israelites to go and celebrate in the truth that “the joy of the LORD is your strength.” The people had started to mourn and grieve after listening to the Word of God for six hours straight because they were sad that their identity as the children of God had been taken from them for so long. But Nehemiah would not let them stay in their grief, they had great reason to celebrate. And so do we.

It is because “the joy of the LORD is our strength,” that we will continue to Celebrate Differently. Over the next five weeks, we have an opportunity to make an incredible impact in a variety of ways in our community. I’m excited to see how God will bring transformation to our lives and the lives of those we serve.

See you on Sunday,
