Hey Mariners Church –
This is a great week and we need to celebrate because….Caleb and Hilary have a new addition to their family! Henry James Anderson was born on St Patrick’s Day and weighed 8.6 pounds. That’s a big boy! We share in their excitement and celebration and I am sure they can’t wait to introduce him to everyone. They are already in love with this little guy.

Henry was a few days late past his due date and it taught me something that I believe we in the church can learn as well. I loved seeing the anticipation for Henry to come by, not only Caleb, Hilary and Jack, but by our staff, friends and people in the church! Everyone was excited for Henry’s arrival and asking, “Is he here yet?” As we approach Easter, we should have high anticipation for what God is going to do that day. We should be excited – so much so that we invite others. We plan what we are going to wear, where we’ll sit, what songs we want to sing – this is a day that we get to celebrate the most life changing event in history!

Obviously, I am already excited but I believe our church is excited too. I see it every week with how you come in ready to worship and connect. So start preparing your hearts and your friends for the many things that are on the horizon. We have reason to share and celebrate. See our EASTER times here.

We’re having a baby! Any…time…now…

Hilary isn’t quite there yet, but today is the due date. If not today, soon. We’ll see! And we’ll have updates for you on social media–without being totally obnoxious.

Pay attention to the events happening in our church below…

Blessings!
Caleb

Saturday night starts DAYLIGHT SAVINGS!

Don’t forget to set your clocks FORWARD (spring forward). Yes, we will judge you if you walk in an hour late. (Just kidding. We’ll only point and laugh.)

Also, to celebrate an extra hour of sunshine, we’ll have a surprise dessert after the 6p service only. Even if you’re not a “dessert person” (who says that?) you’ll want this tasty treat.

Service times: 8:30, 10, 11:30a, 6p. Forward this email to a friend and invite them to sit with you.

Dads—Make sure you come to the Dad’s of daughters event (even if you don’t have a daughter YET). Details are below…

Dedications—If want to dedicate your child, it’s not too late, but make sure to contact Diane soon.

See you Sunday,

caleb

Here’s a verse for reflection today…

You know the generous grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. Though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, so that by his poverty he could make you rich. 2 Corinthians 8:9

This weekend we’re talking about how to be rich! This is not prosperity gospel or a pyramid scheme. And it just might change your life.

If you’ve been a part of OUTREACH weekends in the past, you know Sunday is going to be special. Come on time, and be ready for your worldview to be expanded.

Note the other things going on in our church below…

See you Sunday,

Caleb

DID YOU KNOW…

Today is the start of what many refer to as the Lent(en) season. Lent—approximately 6 weeks prior to Easter—is kicked off by “Ash Wednesday” and is used by many as a preparation period leading up to Easter. Some people fast—going without food, junk food, media, etc. Some people pray—at specific times each day. Others participate in disciplines or behaviors that serve them.

But the point is simple: prepare your heart for a very special time of the year—Easter.

So I want to invite you to ask yourself, what can I do differently in the next six weeks? Is there some basic sacrifice you can make… or step you can take…? Is there something new you want to try? Or something old you want to go without?

Who knows how God might use this commitment. But you can know this: He’ll do something. And I’ll be praying for you. (For daily expressions and prayers for Lent, you can download our Lent Journey card here.)

I’m also really excited about THIS Sunday. If you have ever had questions about PRAYER—how to do it, why it matters, what to expect…—don’t miss this Sunday!

See you soon,

caleb

Join us this Sunday as we continue our series, Pursuit of Happiness. We’ll be talking about a topic that’s extremely relevant, a little scandalous, perhaps offensive, and definitely scary. You won’t want to miss it.

Next Wednesday is the official start of Lent, a season to prepare our hearts for the journey of Easter. More info will be coming soon about ways we can turn our focus toward Jesus and the transforming power of the cross.
