A Note From Caleb

Welcome to the first week of spring! Flowers are in bloom, the sun’s peeking through, the Pope’s brand new… and March Madness kick’s off today. (I’ve got Duke, Gonzaga, Florida, Indiana in my Final Four.)

Better still, we had green pancakes last Sunday. If you missed it, dang. Don’t make that mistake these next two weeks.

This is one of my favorite times of year. More than any other Sunday, people will be willing to go to church with you on Easter–most just don’t know where to go or what to look for. That’s where you and I come in. Let’s be looking for opportunities to invite–this week and next week.

This Sunday: Special Palm Sunday message, followed by a Cash Mob–12:30pm at one of two locations in HB.
Good Friday: Guided Experience– 11am to 2pm; 4pm to 7pm (the perfect time to prepare for Easter and connect with God).
Easter: Memorable services– 8:30am, 10am, 11:30am (Please avoid the busy 10am service unless you’re bringing first-timers.)

See you Sunday!

This week is a special week. Sunday is St Patrick’s Day, and we’re using it as an excuse to have a pancake breakfast after both services. Join us! Invite friends! We’ll have 1) an airbrush tattoo artist for kids, and 2) an artist painting on the patio. And did I mention pancakes, sausages, and other deliciousness? It will be an awesome weekend!

A couple other things to make sure are on your calendars:
Good Friday Prayer Experience: at our offices, 3/29, 11am-2pm; 4-7pm (This will be powerful! Bring a co-worker during lunch or at day’s end)
Easter service times: 8:30am, 10am, 11:30am

I also just want to say that I appreciate ALL OF YOU who read this message and allow me the privilege to occupy a few moments of your day. Our church is making a difference in our community, and it’s people like you who are bringing love, hope, and encouragement to others around you. Thank you for being you. Thank you for being part of our church… and for loving our community along with us!

A Note From Caleb

When I was kid I remember going to my grandfather’s church. The church was on the charismatic side, and grandpa Tommy could work himself up to a passionate frenzy. One Sunday, this time of year, I remember grandpa getting excited about Easter. “It’s Friday…but Sunday’s coming!”

It confused me at first, but I put it together. Friday is when Jesus was killed on the cross. But Sunday He rose from the tomb.

Those people in that church are similar to you and me. There are difficult things in all our lives. Just because someone follows Jesus doesn’t mean their life is easy. They live in the same world as everyone else. But they have a different kind of HOPE.

It might feel like darkness is winning… It might feel like you don’t have enough to go on… It could seem like God is silent… And you might wonder if He will come through…

…But Sunday is coming.

That’s what we celebrate at Easter. That’s why we make a big deal about Easter. Easter’s coming!

Join us as we prepare for Easter this weekend with a special message about generosity through hospitality. I’m going to introduce you to some special people and then give you a culture-changing opportunity. Don’t miss it.

Is it spring yet? It’s supposed to be 80 degrees this weekend! Get the crusty, caked lotion off the squeeze-top, and settle in for a warm one. But schedule your weekend activities around our services at 9 & 11am on Sunday at HB’s Central Library. I’m serious. I want to see EVERYONE this weekend.

We have our own version of MARCH MADNESS coming your way. We’re going to have some fun this month. Stay tuned. Plus, you won’t want to miss this message on Generosity in our RELATIONSHIPS. I’m calling it “Debts, Taxes, and New Beginnings.” If you’re an eager over-achiever, you can read Matthew 18 to get in the zone.

I hope to see ALL of you at our OPEN HOUSE this evening. Stop in any time from 4-7pm. We’ll have snacks. Enough said.

If you’re looking to get more plugged into our church, just ask. We have options. Come tonight, or contact Cayce.

See you soon!

P.S.: Don’t forget to give something away to someone in need this week. We want to hear your stories. We’ll have a video set up for you to share with us on the patio. 90 second limit, please. You “talkers” know who you are
