As the Community Life Pastor, I love summer! Summer is all about community. There are so many wonderful things happening in local neighborhoods we can be a part of, it’s the perfect time to get together with those around us and build relationships. We were meant to live in community. Our Life Groups have gone mobile this summer and are meeting around Orange County at local parks for concerts and movies. Last Saturday night, we were all at The Great Park and it was so much fun! The sun was setting, there was an array of food trucks and it felt like the whole community came out just to see a movie on the lawn together. Partnering with Outreach Ministries, we also collected school supplies to help local schools and students in need.

On July 31 we will be at Fairview Park in Costa Mesa for the Stone Soul Concert, followed by The Mike Ward Community Park in Irvine for the Springsteen Tribute Concert on August 10. And finally, we’ll be at Centennial Park in Tustin on August 21 to watch the movie Frozen. Invite your neighbors and join us – look for the Mariners Church banner. Or, find out what’s happening in your own neighborhood and jump in! I want to encourage you to get out there and meet some new people.

If you are new to Mariners Church, this summer is the perfect time to join us on Saturday nights for our Summer Concert Series. Grab dinner, bring a blanket and take a seat on the lawn. Sit back and enjoy the music and introduce yourself to someone sitting next to you. It’s also a wonderful opportunity to bring a friend or coworker. Invite them to our new weekend message series EPIC – Heroes and Villains of the Bible. Come to church, then stay for dinner and a concert. If you have not done this yet…you are missing out!

Wherever you are this summer, my prayer is that you would look at the world through a new set of glasses and look to meet new people around you to share life with and the love of Jesus.

Blessings,

Shelly

Step aside Zimmerman, I’ll take this one!

To say that last weekend was unique would be a massive understatement. We got to celebrate as a church in profound ways. First, we experienced a powerful glimpse of what God did at VBS as Jana Alayra and the kids led us in worship. We were reminded of the power of God’s unending love for us, and the joy that comes in serving Him. Next, we celebrated as dozens stood in each service to say “I Believe” for the first time, receiving God’s greatest gift of salvation. I don’t know about you, but that is a sight I will never grow tired of. What a privilege we have to witness these moments together as a church family.

This week, Kenton will kick off our new summer series entitled EPIC where we will journey together through some of the most legendary adventures in the Bible. As we learn about the different heroes and villains in the center of these stories, we will be faced to consider our own journey and how God wants to use each one of us. Don’t miss this great opportunity to invite your family and friends to church.

God is clearly on the move at Mariners, let’s not settle for anything less than all of what God has for us. We look forward to serving you this weekend.

Never settle,

Caleb Clements

Hopefully you’ve seen or at least heard about what’s been happening on our campus this week…over 2,100 kids and over 1,200 volunteer leaders (800 of which are students!) all coming together to celebrate and worship Jesus at our annual Vacation Bible School. It’s been awesome watching them move around the campus through the different stations where they can develop relationship with one other, and begin to see, understand and experience the gospel from their leaders. They get to learn about missions and what the gospel looks like in Sri Lanka, raising money to support our church partner there. It’s been unbelievable seeing the love and message of Jesus being planted deep into the hearts of so many kids and families in our community.

And get ready, because this weekend you are going to get a glimpse of the fun and power of VBS week during our weekend experiences! In addition, Kenton will be teaching from our What If series and extending an opportunity to say “I Believe,” taking a courageous step of faith to trust Jesus with their whole life and follow Him. If you are far from Jesus or have friends that you have been praying for, please invite them to come with you. This weekend promises an amazing opportunity to encounter Jesus and the power of the gospel on display, giving everyone a chance to respond in the most profound way possible…I Believe!

Looking forward to being with you this weekend.

peace,

kyle

Have you been wearing your golden rule glasses this week – looking and seeing other people the way Jesus would want us to see and engage them? I loved the message and reminder from Kenton last week about who we are called to be in this world as we are changed by the power of the Holy Spirit and respond through our relationships.

Summer is here! Kids are out of school, the weather is changing, we’re making summer plans, and our campus is being transformed to host over 2,000 kids for VBS next week! We’re so excited to share the gospel and the love of Jesus with these kids and their families.  This weekend, we’ll be praying for the hundreds of volunteers that will be serving the kids and families at VBS, and Kenton will be teaching on one of his favorite passages from the Bible. (Hint: It’s about God’s heart of generosity towards us, and the way we can not only receive, but also share that same heart with the world around us.:)

Looking forward to seeing you this weekend and spending time together this summer!

peace,

kyle

Bacon of all flavors, maple, jalapeño, peppered and sugar-cured… over 500 pounds of it, that’s what the Men of Mariners consumed on our campus last weekend. What an amazing time we had together. It was so fun to meet you and your families and to worship together with you. We laughed, we played, and listened as Doug Fields challenged and invited us to take our next step of faith – becoming the kind of men God wants us to be for our families and this world.

I’m so excited this week as we continue in our What If message series. Kenton will be here, teaching on one of the most famous passages in the Bible. If you’ve ever wondered one of the things that Jesus wants us to care deeply about, you won’t want to miss this message.

Summer is rapidly approaching which means there are some great opportunities just around the corner to be God’s family together. Here are two great opportunities… this Saturday night, come to our United Worship Experience where we will experience unity in diversity as we worship and pray together. Then, next Friday night, June 27, we have the opportunity to worship with our friend, Matt Redman. Matt is a gifted musical artist and worship leader. It’s going to be a special evening as he leads us in remembering, celebrating and honoring who God is. Be sure to join us.

I can’t wait to see you guys this weekend and look forward to spending this summer with you.

Peace
