A Note From Jeff

I am so excited to get this next chapter of my life and ministry underway at Mission Viejo. Last weekend, as I was announced as the Lead Pastor for the MV community, I was overwhelmed at the reception my family and I received. The church passionately and enthusiastically embodied what it means to be a family. While we ate our fill of macaroni and cheese, played together on the patio, and enjoyed Dr. Pepper, it felt like home. I felt like I was among aunts, uncles, cousins, brothers, sisters, nieces, and nephews all playing in our dad’s backyard for an impromptu reunion. What a great statement that kind of family-life makes, not only to me, but to our community:

We’d love to have you here.
You belong.
This is home.

Now, as I pack up my office at the Irvine campus, I can’t help but smile, thinking about how much fun I had this past weekend. I’m looking forward to a great next season of serving alongside my new family at Mariners Church, Mission Viejo.

I’m so excited to invite you guys to this coming weekend! As you know, we’ve been on a journey as a community for the past nine months, listening and following God, believing that He is going to deliver the perfect lead pastor for our community in His perfect timing. God is faithful – He has continued to shape and grow us individually and collectively into His church, and He as given us our next lead pastor.

This weekend as we gather to remember and celebrate God’s story, we get to mark this defining moment together. You’re not going to want to miss this. Invite your friends as we join in what God has done, what He is doing, and what He will continue to do though Mariners Mission Viejo.

peace…

What did you give up for Lent? How is God speaking to you in the midst of that sacrifice? We discussed those questions this week as a staff and it’s amazing to see how God is profoundly speaking to us. He is challenging us and inviting us to consider the sacrifice of Jesus and a life of surrender and loving others. It’s not too late. Jump in. Give up something for Lent.

Learn and understand more to go on this journey of Lent and sacrifice with us as we go towards Easter

Last weekend we launched our Fearless Generosity series and we considered what does it look like to donate ourselves to a cause that’s bigger than us? Bigger than our dreams? Bigger than what we can imagine? Bigger than the life we can provide on our own. Join us this week as Jeff Maguire will be back challenging us and inviting us to continue to become the people and the church God has called us to be. Invite your friends and family.

Looking forward to being with you guys.

peace,

What an amazing way to wrap up our Relationology series last weekend. I loved the courage and the honesty as hundreds of you stood to recognize and invite the transformation of Jesus into your life that will affect all of your relationships. I can’t wait to see what God is going to continue to do in and through you as our church family.

If you missed the update on the lead pastor journey we’re going through as a church family, click here. God’s writing a great story and we want to invite you to be a part of praying, listening and responding to it with us.

This weekend, join us as we kick off a new series Fearless Generosity where we’ll look at becoming the people God wants us to be, finding freedom and joy in life. And join our church as we move toward Easter in the journey of Lent. Lent is a time where we as Christians prepare for Easter by observing a period of fasting, prayer and service. Many of us are choosing to give up something to help remind us of the sacrifice that Christ made for us as we head toward the Cross and the resurrection together. So I encourage you to choose to give something up for Lent.

I’m looking forward to this weekend. Bring your friends as we kick off Fearless Generosity.
