We are heading into the last weekend of You Make the Call and have been looking at how to live a life of wisdom. It’s been a great series, and of course, any excuse to have a big screen on the patio playing football, I’m all for.
We’re also in our third week of Rooted. Thank you to the 55 people who have bravely jumped into community here at Ocean Hills through this experience. Rooted is such a great opportunity to be in community and learn about your purpose in life. Four times a year we offer Rooted, so if you haven’t done it yet, ask about the next opportunity to jump in.
It’s not too late to get in a Life Group! We have five great Life Groups starting up – look for your opportunity this weekend to step into a group. We have a saying around here, life change happens in circles not rows. So as great as a Sunday morning maybe be, and certainly it has an impact on your life, real life change happens when you do life with other people and talk about the complexities of life while bringing God into the equation.
Every week I am reminded of the incredible volunteers we have that make this church happen. Thank you for all you do. It’s a great week – Women’s Ministry has kicked off Women of Passion and MOPS, and Men’s Mnistry has their Men’s Breakfast this Saturday at 8:00 am. If you are a guy, I look forward to seeing you there.

Last weekend was another great weekend for multiple reasons, but one being because I love a good barbecue and I love spending time in community with you all. That is one of my favorite parts about our church- the way all of us “hang around” after service talking, catching up, and getting to know one another. Let’s continue to make Sunday morning a place where you want to invite your friends, and also make new ones. There are people in all of our lives that NEED to hear God’s Word and NEED a community that they can do life with, so take that step, out of your comfort zone, and invite them to church.
Rooted is in it’s second week and once again, it is so fun to see community happening within our church. It is exciting to hear the stories about the way people are getting to know each other, and are diving into God’s Word and doing life with each other. Keeping with the theme of community, it is not too late to jump into a Life Group. We will have opportunities this Sunday to plug into a group, or if you desire, start your own group and we will either provide a leader for you, or train you to lead.
As you can see, fall is the season for community. A leading value of our church is finding the right people to go through life with together, so we are committed to helping you do that.

You know it’s been hot when the thing I’m most looking forward to is that it’s not going to be 100 degrees. (That, or I need to get a life.) Hopefully the hottest days are behind us and all we have to look forward to now is that electric bill that breaks the bank. And, because the heat is supposed to be over, the barbecue is on! So join us this Sunday as we continue our series on Proverbs and then celebrate with a barbecue. It’s a great weekend to invite a friend.
Last night was so fun as we kicked off our fall session of Rooted. It is a group of people just like you who are looking to be in community and grow closer to God. We still have a few spaces left if you want to jump in. Interested? If so, email Cole Beshore.
Some of our other ministries will be launching soon as well. For women, we’ll be starting: Women of Passion, MOPS, and Holy Yoga. All are great ministries designed to move you into community, point you to God, and help you navigate life. Our men are kicking off their Tuesday night and Thursday morning Bible studies with a Men’s Breakfast, so be sure to check out our website for more information.
As you can tell, there are a lot of easy ways to get plugged in here at Mariners Ocean Hills. As great as Sunday morning may be, it is that other point of contact that will help you grow in your relationship with God and with others. I hope you are having a wonderful week.
