This Sunday will be extra special…

We are concluding the Favor With Kings series AND throwing a Trunk or Treat party in the Oak View Community. What more could you want for your Sunday?

We are excited to join together with Oak View Elementary in what will be our future “backyard” once we move into the movie theater. You won’t want to miss this opportunity to continue building relationships with the families in Oak View. This will be a great time for all. Dress up… dress your kids… bring the whole family and all your neighbors as we gather near our future home for this fun community event (costumes not required but a great idea).

The Revolution

Some years ago I was invited to go on a retreat with a dozen younger leaders. There were a few men from a generation above us that wanted to invest in our futures. One of those men was Os Guinness.

Os is a philosopher and author with global influence who follows Jesus. He is also an heir of the Guinness beer family.

One evening on our retreat, Os was speaking and he said something that has stuck with me for the years since.

He was describing his friendship with another guy – a business leader from New York. They had been friends for years and both were committed to their respective missions in the world – leveraging their influence and expertise to make Jesus known in the larger culture.

The two men have committed to meeting together twice a year somewhere in the world – given that the two live in different countries. Whether a restaurant in the states or a pub in Europe, when the two connect they catch up, they share stories, and they always ask each other one question:

“Is the revolution still on?”

This question represents a lot of other questions:

• Do we still believe in what we’re doing?
• Is God still in control?
• Is Jesus still the answer?
• Are our sacrifices for the cause still worth it?
• Will we keep going and persevere?

Their answer every meeting so far… YES.

Stay the course.

It’s worth it.

Good wins.

God is love.

Love finds a way.

God is with you.

You’re on a mission from God. His grace is sufficient for you. Stay the course.

The revolution is still on.

The Lord can control a king’s mind as he controls a river; he can direct it as he pleases. Proverbs 21:1

Sunday we talked about how God has designed this universe with an authority structure, in part, to remind us that we are under HIS authority. Don’t fight it. Don’t hate. Don’t hide. Work within it… and work with excellence.

Let’s take a moment to pray…

Pray for the “king,” or influencer, in your life with whom you need to find favor.

Pray for the authority figures in our city.

Pray for the authority figures in our country.

And let’s remember, as we enter this election season, that we as good citizens and children of God—understanding His authority—vote, pray, and then submit to our authorities. We trust that everyone in leadership—no matter how much we disagree with them—is a river that God can control.

And don’t forget this Sunday! Invite someone who could use some practical insight into how to build or redesign their life. Nehemiah will be our guide.
