Easter is for me!

For a pastor, Easter is the pinnacle of the year. At the same time, the week or two before Easter can also be the most stressful—for me, my family, and the staff (and staff families).

When you and I get stressed, we tend to take our focus off the main thing and obsess about lesser things. Some of which might be out of our control.

At Easter, the main thing is that all people recognize that God isn’t angry with them. In fact, He died for them. And then He rose from the dead, conquering death forever. Not just for Jesus, but for all of us.

Death is not final.

Sin is not fateful.

Life to the full is possible.

And it’s for ME!

Yes, it’s for you, too. But it’s for me. I need resurrection as much as anyone has ever needed resurrection.

And, so do you.

Easter is for me, and Easter is for YOU.

Invite everyone you know. Make plans. Buy dinners. Paint eggs. Hand out fliers. Whatever you have to do to engage people and draw them toward the God who saves.

But, whatever you do, don’t forget that Easter is for YOU.

Resurrection is what you need. Not just 2,000 years ago. Not just when you prayed that one prayer or said “I Believe.”

Resurrection is what you need TODAY. And everyday.

You—not just “them”—need the God who brings the dead back to life and who creates new things out of nothing. (Romans 4:17b)

May you experience life and new things this Easter!

It’s March Madness time! We’re doing an office pool and only one staff person made their selection based on favorite team mascots. (Good luck, Graeme.)

This Sunday is Palm Sunday and it will be a special time together as we continue to prepare for EASTER. Reflect for a moment on this verse. You’ll see it again on Sunday:

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. Proverbs 3:5

EASTER service times:
Sat, Mar 26: 5p (HB Central Park, behind Library)
Sun, Mar 27: 8:30, 10, 11:30a (HB Central Library Theater, per usual)

There is someone within your sphere of influence who needs to be at an Easter service. Someone who would say “yes” if you invited them. Someone who desperately needs to believe resurrections are possible. INVITE them! Make it as easy as possible for them to say “yes”—offer food, a ride, an all-inclusive vacation… whatever works.

I love our church. The staff, leaders, and I pray for you often. God is with you. We’re for you. And we’re a part of something special, together.

See you Sunday,

caleb

Last Sunday was so special! We celebrated the young lives of 15 children, and aligned with their families as they made decisions to dedicate those children to their Creator. It was incredibly inspiring.

On Sunday, I also mentioned the new StepInHB.com website. Make sure you check it out this week. Visit it regularly to stay up to date on our progress. Things are moving ahead and I want you to be in the know.

We’re three weeks from EASTER! Easter service times:

Sat: 5p, HB Central Park (behind library)
Sun: 8:30, 10, 11:30a (no evening service Easter Sunday)

Start making plans now and praying about who you’ll bring with you to one or more services. It will be an amazing time of celebrating the God who brings dead things back to life.

These next two Sundays we’ll be preparing for Easter, and I’ll be giving two of the most inspiring messages I’ve ever given. I want to spark your imagination, stir up your faith, provoke your passions, and expose whatever’s getting in the way of you jumping into your next adventure. Don’t miss these next few weeks!

Between now and Sunday, consider this verse:

And he said: “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.” Matthew 18:3

Ask yourself, what would it take for me to become more “childlike”?

And don’t forget to set your clock forward Saturday evening. You lose an hour Saturday, but Sunday you’ll GAIN SO MUCH MORE!

Happy March! This is the month of EASTER, and we’re already gearing up. I’m so excited about Easter this year. We’ll have another evening service in Central Park, Saturday, March 26 @ 5p. Plus, the same Easter services on Sunday,  March 27 at 8:30, 10, and 11:30a. Start making plans to join us and invite your friends, family and neighbors.

This Sunday, we’re doing child dedications and I’ll be continuing our series the Art of Relationships. Be there! (8:30, 10, 11:30a & 6p)

AND NOW… the moment we’ve all been waiting for… Here is the link to the brand new StepInHB.com website, dedicated to our journey toward the Regency Movie Theater as our next church home. On this site you’ll find vision, plans, updates, and the opportunity to pledge and give to the effort. Feel free to pass this along to your friends and family. We’re in this together…and we’re making progress toward our goal…one person at a time.

See you Sunday!

Hello Mariners HB!

I’m really happy to be upright and outside as I write this note after battling the flu. It not only took me out last weekend, but Monday, Tuesday, and part of Wednesday as well. Nothing reminds me more of the blessings we share than being cooped up inside and not able to do the normal things of life.

I am ready to worship God with a newfound excitement. I hope you are too. This weekend we will be introducing a new song.  We are committed to continuing to bring new music that focuses our hearts and minds toward Christ and reminds us of who we are. If you want a head start on learning the song, click here and come ready to sing it loudly on Sunday.

Can’t wait to worship with you!!
Jairus

P.S.: We’re continuing in our Art of Relationships series. Last week’s message was one of hope that you will want to hear…if you missed it, click here.
