A Note From Caleb

It’s another beautiful week to be alive! Are you Lenting? (That’s not a word) Are you preparing for Easter? Are you praying for your friends and neighbors? We are people who make a big deal about Easter! It’s a Sunday when your friends, family, and neighbors will likely join you at one of our services. Start thinking and praying now…

We have some other fun things happening between now and Easter.

  1. Fearless Generosity – we’re starting a new series that will encourage, and challenge you. Don’t be afraid to bring your friends. People will be inspired by what our church is doing in our community. Finances are just one part of generosity. We need to stretch our thinking. This week: the generosity of God. It will blow your mind.
  2. Women’s Time Out – if you’re a mom with younger children, see our information about this event. It will be awesome!
  3. Men’s Bible Study – if you’re a guy looking to meet other guys from the community, join this group on Wednesday mornings at our offices (2124 Main St #260, in HB)
  4. Serve our church and community – this is another great way to give back and to meet more people in our church. Contact Monica.
  5. Open House – stop by during our open house next Thursday!
  6. Good Friday Experience – on Good Friday we’ll be hosting a dynamic experience in our office complex. It will be a powerful time for our church community. Let us know if you would like to volunteer.

A Note From Caleb

One of my mentors, Eric Boles, told me that, as a speaker, people rarely remember the things I say, but they’ll always remember how I made them feel. As much as I’d like to believe that you go over Sunday’s message in your mind all week long, I know the reality is that our minds are filled with all kinds of thoughts and ideas, and we’re constantly receiving new information and input. But we are relational people. We like and dislike certain people, and often can’t explain why. Here’s an explanation:

People remember how you make them feel! The problem is, you’re usually not aware of, or intentional about, how you come across to others.

There is one reality at the center of all the dysfunction in our relationships. It’s the thing that prevents us from knowing (or caring) how we make others feel. It’s the thing that keeps getting in the way of your relationships (all of them). And I’ll tell you what it is…….. on Sunday.

I’m also going to tell you a little bit about what Lent means, and the road to Easter–the most celebrated event of our faith. We’re nearly 40 days from Easter, and it’s time to start thinking about it. You’ll see why.

Enjoy today,
caleb
