Last night was open house at my kids’ elementary school. I loved seeing their classes, their artwork, their writing and their stories. I loved meeting their friends and their families. I loved seeing the diversity in our community… And I was reminded of the opportunity we have as Christ followers to bring hope and love into the world around us. This Memorial Day weekend gives us a great opportunity to intentionally get to know and love our neighbors. Be on the lookout for a new friend or family God may want you to engage with His love and kindness. This weekend at church we’re continuing our What Ifseries, looking at a life of freedom and joy that a relationship with Jesus brings. I can’t wait to see you all and meet your friends and family this weekend.
I hope you are reading this in a cool, air-conditioned space…wow, it’s hot! I love that the heat hasn’t dampened the spirit of what God is doing here in and through Mariners Church – I’ve been hearing stories all week how families (and, more importantly, women in our community) were blessed and encouraged by our Mother’s Day weekend experience. We were able to welcome and celebrate with the most people we’ve ever had on a weekend…amazing! I believe it’s evidence of your journey with Jesus – that people are seeing the way you love and live differently, and the world wants to experience the same joy and peace in their relationships.
My prayer for you today is that you would continue to walk fearlessly into all God has for you, trusting Him to give you the Spirit, power, and the words when necessary to put on display the power of the gospel in your life. Isn’t that what the current weekend series “What If?” is all about? It’s a great reminder that the same power that raised Jesus from the dead is alive and within us. We can wholeheartedly trust and depend on His spirit and His strength to lead us, guide us, protect and provide for us. This is the message our friends, neighbors, OC needs (and wants) to hear. Be on the lookout this week for the people God places in your path and invite them to join us on this great adventure of faith.

I love the way the Church was put on display last weekend with our students leading us in worship during the service. It was so inspiring seeing their authentic hearts for Jesus as they helped us remember and celebrate His gift to us by coming together as one family. I have the distinct privilege of witnessing the hearts of our student pastors and leaders each week as they engage students with the love of Jesus. I’m grateful you were able to get a glimpse of what I get to see on a regular basis.
Happy (almost) Mother’s Day! I can’t wait for this weekend as we gather again to remember God’s love for us and celebrate mom! You’ll be able to take a picture at one of our photo booths, enjoy chocolate-covered goodness at our fondue fountains, and listen to live music as you connect and hang out with other families on the lawn. We have some special, funny and honoring moments planned for the service. And, Kenton has a Mother’s Day message he’s so excited to teach. Invite your family, friends, and of course, your mom to join us this weekend at Mariners!
What If: the relationships and life of meaning you want to live are on the other side of surrendering control, and increasing faith? I loved launching our new series “What If” with you guys last weekend…so many of you wrote emails or talked with me on the patio about how God was speaking to you, challenging you to trust Him and take your next step of faith. I love the authenticity we have as a church community, honestly wrestling with God’s voice and the beauty and challenge of fearlessly walking out our faith. I can’t wait to see who we become and how God uses us in the midst of this season. And I loved hanging with you guys Saturday night on the lawn at our “family dinner.” As we continue to head towards summer with warmer weather and sunshine, Saturday nights are a great time to slow down the pace of life, enjoy a meal, and laugh and connect with one another. I’d love for you to join my family and many of our staff and leaders on Saturday nights.
Hey, this is Kyle. If you’re still reading, I’d like to say “you’re awesome!” by giving you a beverage from the cafe. Please stop by the Welcome Center this weekend and pick up a coupon and let us know, “I love it!”
Happy Easter! It seems so long ago – can you believe it was just last weekend?! And what a weekend we shared…it was amazing to see so many people come and experience the power, truth and hope found in the death and resurrection of Jesus! I loved meeting your friends and family on the patio, hearing how proud you were they came with you to experience Jesus and community with us at Mariners.
This weekend, I’m thrilled to be launching our new series titled, What If?It seems like the questions that create the most fear and worry in life begin with “What if…” But What If the resurrection is true and Jesus is alive? What if that same power that raised Him from the dead is available to transform our lives today? What if the relationships and hope we’re longing for in this world can truly be found in following Jesus? Your friends and family will want to join you again at church this week as we launch into this series from Luke together.
And – this Saturday night we’re gonna be having a family dinner together…food and fun options for everyone! Come and meet my family, connect with others, and meet some of our staff. We’d love for you to join us.
