Serving with Student Ministries

JHM_GenericCompass_MV

We believe that one of the biggest things Jesus asks us to do is to love and serve our neighbors. Mariners Student Ministries (Jr. High and High School) takes that very literally, and so we go into our communities on a monthly basis to love and serve our neighbors. This month, we will be heading to Vintage Mission Viejo, a senior living home, to hang out with some of their residents. We will play some games, hear great stories, and build relationships as a way of showing Jesus’ love. Join us!

We had such a fun weekend celebrating Palm Sunday and beginning to prepare for Easter! It was so fun to see our kids up front singing and dancing with big smiles. Some of my fondest memories of church have been when kids get to be a part of our worship service. We are in the middle of Passion Week, titled as such, because of the joy and passion in which Jesus went to the cross. Hebrews 12 states: “And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”

Just a reminder, our Good Friday service will be tomorrow (Friday) at 5p. It will be a time to reflect on Jesus’ death on the cross, and what that means in our own lives. Easter Sunday will be a special celebration as we focus on the exciting truth that the tomb is empty and Jesus has risen. There will also be an Easter Egg Scramble (Hunt) following the service so be sure to stick around and watch! Easter is going to be a wonderful celebration, so grab your friends and family and join us! It’s not too late to “egg your neighbor” with an invite. We look forward to seeing you!

MessageFrom-HB

“Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them. Doesn’t he leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it? And when he finds it, he joyfully puts it on his shoulders and goes home. Then he calls his friends and neighbors together and says, ‘Rejoice with me; I have found my lost sheep.’” Luke 15:4-6

That lost sheep was me.

That lost sheep has been you, too.

We are just a bunch of sheep who have been rescued. Now we get to enjoy following our God, and inviting others into the same generous love.

Will you join me this EASTER week in praying for a few specific things:
– That many “lost” will be found
– That we would all be those who rejoice with God when He rescues just one
– That we would create a community that invites, welcomes, and cares for those God brings

EASTER services times: 8:30, 10:00, 11:30am – with overflow seating. (Still, come early if you can… and preferably at 8:30 or 11:30am!)

I’m really looking forward to being with you this Sunday. If you’re on the fence, fight through any excuses that are coming to mind. You need to be there. And consider who else you can bring…

This is it…Easter Week! I love the way we launched into this season last week by remembering what led up to Palm Sunday – Jesus’ compassion and love for His dear friend Lazarus, raising him from the dead. That’s what this week is all about – remembering God’s love for each and every one of us. His love is expressed in the sacrifice of Jesus at Good Friday and the power to live in freedom through His resurrection at Easter!

I have been praying all week for each of you. I prayed that you would create the time to join us as we reflect on the truths that silence the voices of shame, guilt and fear. These truths invite us to move through life in the power of the Holy Spirit with a joyful hope. We need this week…our friends, family and neighbors need this week. Take every advantage to love your friends and invite them to join you tomorrow for Good Friday and this weekend for Easter. God is so faithful and when we show up, He shows up in ways beyond what we can ask or imagine.

Peace…
