P. 17
The idea of being in relationship with people and allowing the gospel to flow through our lives—rather than telling people how to believe—was considered revolutionary in those times.
Mariners began to focus on mission and vision, asking the questions, “What does God want us to do? Where does He want us to go?”
Joe believed first and foremost in the beauty of the gospel. He said,
“Vision starts with God’s heart for a lost world.”
I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one— I in them and you in me—so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.
