two–story office building on Bison
In 1974, due to such fast growth, the Elder Board decided to buy property on Bison Avenue, between
MacArthur and Jamboree. They believed God wanted them to pay cash and held a limited fund
raiser, letting everyone in the church know of the need. When the day came to write the check,
they came up $76 short.
Pastor Joe went to the Sunday School rooms where there were cardboard church banks used by the
teachers to help kids understand the importance of generosity. Every Sunday, the children would drop
in their pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters.
When all the spare change was counted up, it totaled $76.53. God provided the money Mariners needed. They
bought the land, and on July 7, 1975 they occupied a brand new two–story church home.
So Christ Himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip His people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be
built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.
