A Big Story
Fifty years ago, Mariners Church planted its roots in an intimate community with a common desire. A group of people came together with one goal: to bring Jesus to their friends and neighbors. They began meeting in each other’s homes, praying, studying, and growing in their desire to share the gospel. Over time, the meetings grew, the need for biblical teaching arose, and it became clear God was leading this small group of friends to a bigger vision.
As Mariners Church has grown through the years—from building to building, campus to campus, experiencing celebration and sorrow, growth and decline—we have remained true to our beginnings. Regardless of size and space, we passionately desire our community to know Jesus.
We believe where we are today is a reflection of our humble beginnings. As we move forward, we need to look back to understand how we got here—the places where we fell down and the ways we got back up again. The things we did right and the things we could have done differently. When we look back, we see all the stories throughout our history woven together make up a grand story
of God’s redemption and love through Mariners Church.
We look back to remember His faithfulness which inspires us to move forward as He guides us.
This is our story of the last 50 years. It is filled with joy, heartache, frustration, praise, and most importantly, the evidence of God’s great love, the pursuit of His children, and His power at work in and through this church.
2015 Church Verse
Great is the Lord and most worthy of praise; His greatness no one can fathom. One generation commends Your works to another; they tell of Your mighty acts. They speak of the glorious splendor of Your majesty–and I will meditate on Your wonderful works.
